Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using stratLens ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

2. Description of Service

stratLens is an AI-powered strategic analysis platform that enables users to:

  • Search and analyze publicly traded companies
  • Generate strategic analyses using various frameworks (SWOT, Porter's Five Forces, PESTEL, etc.)
  • Edit and customize AI-generated insights
  • Export analyses as PDF or PowerPoint presentations
  • Share analyses via secure links

3. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. When creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Promptly update any information that becomes inaccurate
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Service.

4. Free Tier and API Key Usage

4.1 Free Tier

Each account includes 3 free analyses. Once your free analyses are exhausted:

  • You must provide your own API key to continue generating analyses
  • Free analyses cannot be restored by deleting previous analyses
  • Free tier limits are non-transferable between accounts

4.2 Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

When using your own API key:

  • You are responsible for all charges incurred with your AI provider
  • You must comply with your AI provider's terms of service
  • We are not responsible for any issues arising from your API key usage
  • Your API key is encrypted and stored securely, but you use this feature at your own risk

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
  • Transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful data
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Scrape, crawl, or collect data from the Service without permission
  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent free tier limits
  • Share your account credentials with others

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, code, and content (excluding user-generated content), is owned by stratLens and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the Service without our written permission.

6.2 Your Content

You retain ownership of the analyses you create and any modifications you make. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content as necessary to provide the Service.

6.3 AI-Generated Content

Analyses generated by AI are provided for informational purposes only. You may use, modify, and distribute AI-generated analyses, subject to:

  • The terms of service of the underlying AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google)
  • Your obligation to verify the accuracy of AI-generated content
  • Your responsibility for any decisions made based on the analyses

7. Disclaimers

7.1 Service Provided "As Is"

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

7.2 No Financial or Business Advice

stratLens provides strategic analysis tools for informational and educational purposes only. The analyses generated by the Service:

  • DO NOT constitute financial, investment, legal, or business advice
  • Should NOT be the sole basis for any business or investment decision
  • May contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information
  • Are generated by AI and should be independently verified

Always consult with qualified professionals before making important business or financial decisions.

7.3 Data Accuracy

We strive to provide accurate company data, but we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information. Data is sourced from third-party providers and may be delayed or contain errors.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STRATLENS AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss of profits, revenue, or data
  • Business interruption
  • Costs of substitute services
  • Any damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service
  • Any decisions made based on analyses generated by the Service
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless stratLens and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Any content you submit or share through the Service

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Reasons for termination may include:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Abusive or fraudulent behavior
  • Extended periods of inactivity
  • Request by law enforcement or government agencies

You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Upon termination, all your data will be permanently deleted.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which stratLens operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

12. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, you agree to submit to binding arbitration in accordance with applicable arbitration rules.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and stratLens regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
